In 1990 a small studio with high aspirations was
established in Prague. The intention was - and the goal
is - to continue the production of Czech and Slovak
animation, to achieve and to maintain high standards
under at that time unknown "market economy". *)
Two of the experienced people were
standing by the studio's cradle - author and director
Lubomir Benes and his friend and partner cartoonist
Vladimir Jiranek. Some time before they got together to
create the Pat &
Mat/...and that's it! series.
Other partners joined in from all
animation disciplines, most of them as co-owners of the
AIF studio and its full-time
collaborators.
The people of the AIF studio master
all techniques of professional frame-by-frame
animation. The studio generates revenues by production of
commercials, contract productions, production and
distribution of (own) films and TV series, distribution
and merchandising of their own products.
The AIF studio has high quality
technical equipment suitable to produce all kinds of
classical
animation techniques. The AIF
studio works closely together with companies equipped
with the latest world-class computer
technology.
The AIF executive
production unit is unique in
the Czech and Slovak Republics in its reliability (but:
bevare - see bellow) and professional down-to-earth
approach.
These all are the reasons why the
AIF studio is chosen by other authors who want to realize
conventional - and unconventional - technologically
demanding animated films on
budget and on
time.
Both the present and the future of
Czech and Slovak animation are important for the people
of the AIF studio. They suport young artists and students
of animation. The studio co-operates with
FAMU Film
Academy
and the VSUP
Arts Academy in Prague, helps
their students to realize their films, giving
professional assistance and allowing for the use of the
AIF studio's infrastructure.
This also relates to looking for
new means of realization, new animation techniques and
supporting unconventional projects.
The aim of the studio is both for
the near and far future the same as at the very beginning
- to ensure good animated films to be realized, and
before all to be seen by the people at home and all the
people of Europe and the
world.
The APD
association of film animation
professionals has been founded by the people of the AIF
studio to promote the potential of Czech and Slovak
authors and studios at home and in the international
market.
